Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones Announces Run For Congress

Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones announces he is running for Congress in the upcoming 2022 elections.

Jones made the announcement yesterday through a Facebook post, saying he will fight for law and order in America, stand up against the "Defund the Police" movement, and secure the border.

He is running for the 3rd Congressional District, representing areas in Sacramento, El Dorado, and Yuba for the Republican party.

Jones began his career at the Sheriff's department in 1989 as a security officer, eventually working his way to deputy. He worked in corrections, patrol, and legal affairs, and served seven years as a legal advisor. He became Sacramento County Sheriff in 2010, and announced that he will not be seeking re-election as Sheriff in 2022 last October. Now, he's vying for a seat in Congress, his second run since losing to Ami Bera in 2016.
