California Supreme Court Justice Leondra Kruger could be on President Biden's nomination list for the Supreme Court.

Kruger, who was appointed to California’s Supreme Court by Governor Jerry Brown in 2014, is known widely in Washington legal circles where she worked for the Bush and Obama administration, and has served as acting Solicitor General. She has argued 12 cases before the Supreme Court, was also a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals, and for Associate Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Her name has been circulating on prospective Supreme Court justice lists for years, appearing on activist group selections since 2019. She was originally a law clerk for Judge David Tatel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and for Associate Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Her possible appointment comes after the news of Justice Stephen Breyer announcing his retirement, leaving an open seat potentially for President Biden to fill if the Senate votes fifty-one overall for confirmation.

Kruger is a Los Angeles native, Harvard alum, and a graduate of Yale Law School.
