California's First Ever Surgeon General Resigning

California's first ever Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is resigning. 

Governor Gavin Newsom's office confirmed the news Tuesday.

 In a statement, Governor Newsom said they will continue the important work she led, including initiatives on equity, mental health, and childhood development. Harris was appointed in January 2019 by Governor Newsom, who hired here with the focus on combating the root causes of serious health conditions, using her office to reach young families across the state. Harris previously served as Chief Executive and founder for the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco.

Newsom did not announce her replacement yet.
