The California Assembly Republican Caucus is voting to elect Yuba City's James Gallagher as the new Assembly Republican Leader. He will replace Marie Waldron from Valley Center, who has served in that position since 2018. Gallagher says he is grateful for the trust from his colleagues and says he plans to lead Californians as an "alternative to the high taxes, out-of-control crime and runaway inflation that have resulted from Democratic leadership".
