Yolo County is ending their mask mandate February 15th.

California announced the indoor mask mandate will end on Tuesday, but individual counties can set their own rules on masking. Going forward, following the new statewide mandate, only unvaccinated individuals will be required to wear face coverings, though the county continues to recommend that everyone wear face masks indoors and in social settings. Businesses will also have the option to require customers to either wear a mask, show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. In a press release given today, Yolo County officials cite recent data of hospitalizations and deaths "no longer tracking with case rates" as a contributing factor to the mandate lift.

“Yolo County is lifting our masking order because the COVID-19 situation has changed thanks to effective vaccines, effective treatments, and a variant that causes less severe disease,” said Yolo County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson. “The Omicron wave is receding, but COVID-19 will continue to be with us. We must learn to live with COVID-19. Moving away from requiring everybody to wear masks indoors is a first step toward living with COVID-19. I still recommend that everybody wears a mask indoors in Yolo County, but it will no longer be required in most settings for fully vaccinated persons starting February 16.”

Sacramento County is also following suit and allowing vaccinated residents to ditch the mask that day.
