Sacramento Kings Inviting Fans For Final Goodbye Of Arco Arena

The Sacramento Kings are inviting fans to say a final goodbye to the old Arco Arena.

Team officials say the March 19th event will include an outdoor party with a DJ and food trucks, where fans will have access to the arena which served as the longtime home of the Kings for 28 seasons.

Arco Arena, also once known as Sleep Train Arena, has hosted more than 48-hundred events dating back to 1988. It was the official host site of the Kings until the team moved into the downtown Golden One Center in 2016. “As we close the final chapter of the arena in Natomas, we welcome fans to pay one last visit to the old barn,” Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé said in a statement. “That arena was widely known as the loudest place to play in the NBA, and the memories created there will last forever because one thing that remains consistent is the passion and devotion of our fans.”

The Kings and the city of Sacramento are donating 35-acres of the land to California Northstate University - they plan to construct a medical school and a teaching hospital.
