The stage is set for the California International Marathon this weekend, rain or shine. The wet weather isn't stopping runners from participating even as another winter storm cell is expected to roll into the Sacramento region Saturday morning and stay through most of Sunday. People from all over the globe are gathering in Sacramento County this weekend to participate. It is expected to bring a boost to the local economy and tourism. The CIM has used the same Folsom to the State Capitol course since the inaugural race in 1983. Also since then, the race attendance has grown from 1,600 in 1983 and now tops over 9,000 and growing. In addition to the Marathon, Sacramento Running Association has added a relay and 2 Saturday 5Ks, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital MaraFUNrun, primarily for youth, and the Capitol 5K, a premier 5K held the day before CIM.

The route of the race including road closures is available here.
