Dr. Wood Named As Sac State's New President To Replace Retiring President

The next president of Califorina State University, Sacramento is being named today. The university has chosen alumnus J. Luke Wood, Ph.D., as Sacramento State’s next president. The decision comes down from the CSU board of trustees. The new president will take over July 16th upon the departure of Robert S. Nelsen, who is retiring after eight years as Sac State’s top administrator. Dr. Wood will become Sac State’s ninth president since its founding in 1947. He comes to Sac State after serving as vice president for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity at San Diego State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Black History and Politics and first master’s in Higher Education Leadership from Sacramento State. He earned a second master’s of Education and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Arizona State. Dr. Wood also has an extensive resume including dozens of awards and career acheivements.
