  1. There's a new budget deal in California. Governor Gavin Newsom reached an agreement with lawmakers last night on a $300 billion spending plan, just hours before today's deadline. It had been stalled over his efforts to fast-track infrastructure and energy projects. Newsom says this will grow the state's budget reserves to a record $38 billion while preserving historic investments in education, health care, climate and public safety. Click here to read more.
  2. There's a new push to raise the toll on Bay Area bridges for the next five years. State Senator Scott Wiener says the state bail out for struggling public transit agencies doesn't solve the problem locally. His bill adds a-dollar-50 everywhere except the Golden Gate Bridge and is described as an emergency fix. Click here to read more.

  4. California's new first-in-the-nation gas price gouging law is now in effect. This ahead of the July 1st date to raise the gas tax yet again in California by eight cents. Lawmakers who support the new law say it will penalize companies that inflate gas prices. Yet, oil companies say the new law adds more red tape to doing business in California.
