- Some residents are not happy that the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors’ will be designating July as American Christian Heritage Month. Supporters say it's simply acknowledging Christianity's role in the founding of the country and isn't forcing religion on anyone and say it's similar to Black History Month or Jewish-American Heritage Month. Detractors say it's a clear breach of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and that it's unconstitutional. Click here to read more.
- The back-and-forth between Florida Governor Ron Desantis and Governor Newsom is not letting up. Desantis has agreed to debate Newsom and would be hosted by Fox News. Politico is reporting that someone from Newsom's office has sent a formal request for the debate but also that he has requested a few terms, like having no studio audience and for the moderator to be Sean Hannity. - California Congressman Josh Harder is re-introducing a bill which would help bring more doctors to his critically underserved region. Harder's district includes parts of San Joaquin County, which he says has half of the recommended ratio of patients to doctors. It's been that way since at least 1994 but was worsened by COVID travel restrictions. Click here to read more.
- Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform a series of sold-out shows in Los Angeles and this morning the Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis has joined other Democrats at the Capitol in urging Swift to postpone her upcoming concerts in LA to show support for striking hotel workers.
