- Several Bay Area tech giants are apparently behind the massive agricultural land purchases in Solano county. The purchases raised alarms with congressional members concerned there were a foreign interest buying up land around Travis AFB. According to ABC 7 Bay Area, "The Flannery Group” is backed by venture capitalist Michael Mortiz and LinkedIn Co-Founder Reid Hoffman and other tech giants.The group has reached out to Congressman John Garamendi and are reportedly interested in building a massive city with thousands of homes. - A group of low income students has been given the green light to sue the state over covid-era learning loss. A superior court judge in Alameda county says the evidence shows the state implemented a remote learning policy that failed to provide all students with computers and internet access. As a result of those failures, the lawsuit claims achievement gaps widened, particularly for low income students. The state Department of Education declined to comment. Click here for more.
- Governor Newsom is increasingly being viewed as a nuisance to some of President Joe Biden’s political advisors, according to a report by NBC. Newsom’s challenge to debate Governor Ron DeSantis this fall have some concerned that voters will believe Newsom is running a shadow campaign at a time when most democrats say they would like another candidate at the top of the ticket. - It's the end of an era for Nordstrom in San Francisco. The retailer closed its San Francisco flagship store Sunday after 35 years in the downtown area. Nordstrom opened its store at the corner of Fifth and Market streets in 1988. It was announced earlier this year that the store would be closed due to declining sales. Click here for more.
