Governor Newsom and fellow Democrat, Assembly speaker Robert Rivas, appear to be at odds over how to balance the state's massive budget deficit. Rivas recently said he believes there may need to be an increase in taxes to balance the budget while Newsom has stated is does not.   4. New numbers regarding the status of the state’s snowpack are in and the results are impressive. Some regions of the high Sierra received up to eleven feet of new snow in the latest winter storm.
