The Top 5 movies this weekend:
- 1. Glass - $19 million
- 2. The Upside - $12.2 million
- 3. Aquaman - $7.4 million
- 4. The Kid Who Would Be King - $7.3 million
- 5. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - $6.2 million
Despite a 53% drop from last weekend, Glass remained the number-one movie in North America. The thriller, starring James McAvoy, Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis, earned $19 million over its second weekend. In 10 days, the M. Night Shyamalan flick has grossed $73.5 million.
Meanwhile, the weekend's new releases flopped. The Kid Who Would Be King made a disappointing $7.3 million, landing in fourth. With a $60 million budget, the fantasy movie could be a financial disaster for producers Working Title and 20th Century Fox. Serenity, starring Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, fared even worse, coming in eight with only $4.8 million. Its 21% Rotten Tomatoes ratingcertainly didn't help.
The rest of the Top 5 stayed in place from last weekend. The Upside was second with $12.2 million, Aquaman was third with $7.4 million and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was fifth with $6.2 million.
