As I woke up and checked Instagram this morning, this pretty print of California caught my eye. Sacramento artist Tim Collom's post about watching and hearing fire coverage this weekend was touching. His heartbreak at listening to a firefighter's emotion and watching a burned and dazed dog search for his owners moved him to use his art for good. So many people are helping with meals, money, gift cards, prayers and information sharing. For all of the devastation that has happened and the horrors yet uncovered, the Fred Rogers quote rings true once again:
"You will always find people who are helping. To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”
There are too many caring people to mention on the air or in this post. Tim is one of them who caught my eye this morning. He's releasing some of these prints with all proceeds going to Camp Fire victims. Good on you Tim, using your art to ease pain and suffering. Thank you.
