As Butte County starts rebuilding from the Campfire, donations continue to pour in for survivors. Yesterday, the North Valley Community Foundation accepted a 200 thousand dollar gift from Cache Creek Casino Resort. General Manager Kari-Stout Smith told KFBK that employees and guests were glad to participate. "I had one of our shift managers tell me that this really hit home for them because their son who got out of the military just bought a home in Paradise and they lost everything."
The Yocha Dehe Wintun nation had already donated a million dollars back in December, this additional gift from Cache Creek was collected from staff and resort guests over the holiday season. "It certainly meant something to us to do some small effort", said Stout-Smith, "They still need more and we'll continue to look for opportunities to give back".
The North Valley Community Foundation has received 4 million in donations so far. Camp Fire survivors can apply for grants, get direct assistance and access other recovery resources.
