While we were all living our lives last December 18th, NASA says a giant space boulder exploded over the earth with the power of 10 atomic bombs. The space agency calls such events a "fireball" and apparently, scientists just noticed it because it happened over the Bering sea, which is extremely remote. The last fireball in 2013 rocked parts of Russia and was widely seen. NASA's planetary defense officers, (which has got to be the coolest work title in world), say so far in 2019, there have been 5 fireballs to enter our atmosphere but most are tiny and powerful events, like last December happen only a few times every 100 years.
