America Losing its Religion (but not spirituality)

The latest General Social Survey, shows the number of Americans who have no religion has increased 266% over the past three decades and now account for 23.1% of the population, just barely edging out Catholics and Evangelicals as the nation’s dominant faith.

The General Social Survey is an ongoing study of US trends and attitudes since 1972. We interviewed Dr Pankaj Jain, a professor of religious studies at University of North Texas. He teaches religion and society and weighed in on the trend this morning.
