When Folsom gathers to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rainbow bridge on Saturday, Ryan Robinson will be there to set a world record. The adventure athlete and professional high-liner will be traversing a 1 inch-wide slack line tethered between two of the city's bridges. Robinson, is from Folsom and told the KFBK Morning News it should take him a half hour to cross the 1919 foot span.
“After years of hard work, training, and dreaming, I am so excited to have the opportunity to slackline in my hometown between these beautiful bridges,” said Robinson. “There is so much history here, for me and all of us. I’ve run and ridden every inch of these bike paths, driven these roads hundreds of times, and swum in this beautiful lake too many times to count. I couldn’t be more elated to see my dream come true and share it with the community that raised me."
Below you'll find the segments from the KFBK morning news where Ryan talks about fear, the psychology of the slack line and fills us in on the need-to-know jargon for slack line fans.
