Thats the start of an article written by travel expert and owner of EscapingNY, Cassandra Brooklyn after her dive into Shinrin-Yoku or "Forest Bathing". The practice is not new...it was developed in Japan in the 1980's but is catching on in other countries as an alternative to meditation. The practices emphasizes slowing down and connecting with nature using all 5 senses. It's been proven to help lower cortisol levels and blood pressure and its prescribed in many countries as a preventative health technique.
