The World Comes Together To Build A Time Machine

The Square Kilometer Array is a partnership between more than 13 countries and 1500 engineers. It is a collection of radio telescope dishes, that will peer into the dawn of the universe to answer questions about Einstein's theories, the formation of black holes and whether alien life exists.

The United States isn't an official member of the SKA organization which includes: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Further countries have expressed their interest in joining the SKA Organisation which will continue to expand over the coming years.

Most of the dishes will be built in Australia and Africa. The first section of the radio telescope will be online by 2027. Listen below for our segment on how and when we'll start seeing images from this largest science experiment in human history. You can also link to the official website for the SKA for more information (there is great information here for teachers/students)
