Folsom Police the First in the State to Use New Law Enforcement App

For the last two weeks, police in Folsom have been using a new app to help them identify and assist people who are mentally ill, disabled or have Alzheimer's or autism. The app is called Vitals Aware Services and works through the officer's phones. When approaching someone who is carrying a company token, the app alerts the officer (or other first-responder) with the person's name and information that may be useful to the officer in making contact.

I chatted with Folsom Police Chief Rick Hillman who told me how the app is used, how the information is stored and why other law enforcement agencies are reaching out to Folsom to ask about the service. Listen to our segment below.
