OK, so I grew up in the 70s. This was before all superhero movies were "dark and brooding." I liked the original Superman, because it made me believe "that a man can fly." But in the summer of 1980, the sequel came out...and I geeked out. I remember reading the review in my local paper that said "Superman 2, The Kind Of Movie That Makes Summer Special." And it did.
It had everything a fan could want....battles, great super-villains, pretty decent special effects (for the time) and a great story (heck, Superman lost his powers).
I haven't watched this movie in a few years, and my kids have never seen it, so I think it's time to introduce them to the movie that set the standard. I want them to see the kind of superhero movie that will hopefully make their summer just as special as it did mine.
