For those of you following my journey to sleep...or at least try and sleep better, you know it's been tough. I've been seeing sleep specialists for months now, and some of what I'm doing seems to be helping.
I'm trying to regulate my sleep schedule, I eat dinner earlier, I'm trying (this has been tough) to stay off my phone before bed, and have a sleep apnea machine I now use. I was told it was going to be a long process, and it has, because I've had to rearrange so much of my life.
Then I stumbled across an article online about sleep issues, and how the moon might play a role in getting less sleep!
According to Shape.com, "People actually cop about 20 fewer minutes of sleep when there's a full moon, according to researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. The study authors don't know why, but say your body's circadian clock may be tied at least partially to lunar cycles. Luckily, you only have to worry about this sleep disruptor once a month."
Well, that's a new one! I've heard about how a full moon has been linked to an increase in violent crime and psychotic behavior, but not sleep (or a lack of). There might be something to that, but it's one more thing for me to worry about, and worrying is one of the things that keeps me up at night, so maybe I should just forget about this, and try to go back to sleep.
