What's Your WORST Rejection Letter EVER (Here's Mine)!

posted by Dan Mitchinson -

In the radio biz, you have to have a thick skin. You apply for a lot of jobs, and you get rejected for a lot of jobs. One rejection that stands out is from an NPR station in Washington State.  I've kept the letter all these years, because it was so pompous...and still makes me laugh. Here's what it said:

'We invite you to occasionally remind us of your existence. You are welcome to submit a brief aircheck. I will come right out and state the obvious, that we only find a small percentage of commercial broadcasters who can be truly compatible with public radio.

It is my bias that the dominance of content over style which we value is generally reversed by our brethren across town.We are, of course, small and underpaid. But at least we're happy, and still have our arrogance.'

Now that's how to turn somebody down for a job!
