When my wife and I visited the secret island hideaway of Luke Skywalker seen in "The Last Jedi" ( which was filmed on Skellig Michael off the coast of Ireland), the first thing we noticed was there were a lot of birds. And they were cute.
Turns out they are puffins. They're friendly, loud and funny little things.
These birds are the inspiration for 'Porgs," similar furry, funny creatures featured in "The Last Jedi."
I noticed them popping up all over the place, including in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. Of course they've been "modified" for the movie, and I think might be even more cute than the real life "porgs."
Either way, they're bound to be one of this years hottest toys, and I'll tell you this...they're a lot less annoying than the Ewoks were in "Return of the Jedi."
