My wife and I have been trying to agree on a new couch for at least a year. We both have different tastes, I'm tall, she's short(er), I'm looking for something for back support, she would like her feet to be able to touch the ground, one of us wanted leather, the other fabric, and so it went. And if I'm honest, it takes me FOREVER to make up my mind, and I am a little picky.
I don't know why, but for some reason I tweeted out to William Shatner (who's become quite a social media "friend," or acquaintance since we first met a couple of years ago). I asked for his help...and he responded...along with several thousand other people on my twitter account @dmitchinson.
The good news is, after months of waiting, the couch has arrived. It wasn't perfect...but that's what you get when you have it built from scratch. The company has been great about helping us fix the problems it since the sofa arrived from the factory, and get it as close to perfect as we'd like. Anyway, the "captain's" advice is, as you'll see below, in the future...let my wife make all the decisions when it comes to furniture.

Don’t go and you’ll have a couch by next week. 😝 https://t.co/vHuY7I87uI— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) January 27, 2018
You’ll NEVER believe this!!! We made a decision and are about to order in 24 hours! You were our muse! pic.twitter.com/RJZuqsXmlq— Dan Mitchinson (@dmitchinson) January 27, 2018
Tell her to send me a photo of the couch next week when it’s delivered. https://t.co/0rYFISfdlp— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) January 27, 2018
He also offered up some advice about upcoming remodel projects.
Let her handle it. When she asks which one would you choose (if there’s a choice) ask her which one she’s leaning towards and choose that... if she doesn’t answer that, find something about one that complements one of her previous choices and choose that & tell her why. 😉 https://t.co/Eh39MOwyMR— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) January 29, 2018
What I learned after almost two years of marriage..."Happy wife, happy life." Oh, and he also left us with this final piece of advice about the couch.
