Sac Bee Complaint? Call The Philippines

You remember a couple of weeks ago I told you my wife and I were canceling the Sac Bee? Well, we did it, and I'm going through some minor withdrawals. 

Mind you, it wasn't like we were getting the paper when we should. Some weekends it never showed up on our door step. Other times it would arrive after 9am. Still, I looked forward to glancing through the local section, reading the comics and advice columns. But after several years of sub-par service we decided enough was enough. I called to cancel our subscription, and asked if I was talking to the main office (thinking it would be somewhere in Sacramento). Turns out their "customer service" department is in the Philippines!

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Many companies are outsourcing these types of jobs overseas. It costs less, and people are willing to do far more work for less pay. 

Now, we're trying to figure out who to subscribe to next. Maybe get the New York Times, or read the San Francisco Chronicle? There are even several international newspapers I can subscribe to, albeit they might arrive a day or two after being published. Still, unlike most weekends I was a Bee subscriber, at least I know these papers would be delivered.
