Sami Kader grew up in Roseville. When he was eight, he gained weight. He was bullied in school and felt like an outcast. By the time he was a sophomore in high school, he weighed over 300 pounds. Then, thanks to a family friend, Kader began exercising and eating healthy and he says that helped rebuild his confidence.
Now he's a youth motivational speaker and believes that all children deserve the chance to succeed, and that believing in yourself is one of the most important parts of leading a happy, healthy life. He's also urging parents to help their kids, and says they can do that by example.
"If we want our kids to get up and move as a parent, we should model that activity and lifestyle" he tells the KFBK Morning News.
Sami's even got a book out called "Sami Versus The Negative Voice" (available on Amazon) that he hopes will get his positive message out to kids across Northern California.
"The only way to fight negativity is with positive words and positive actions. My favorite words I use in the book are 'you can do this, you've got this, never give up,' and these are words we all need to hear and keep telling ourselves no matter what age we are."
