Local Four-Legged Hero Competing For Top Dog

Every dog has its day, and one four-legged local is hoping that day will come for them on September 29 at the 8th Annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards in Beverly Hills.

Klinger, a 4-year-old German Shepherd from Folsom, will be competing against 265 other courageous canines for the nation’s highest honor recognizing Mankind’s best friend.

Voting by the American public to choose this year’s top American Hero Dog starts now at www.herodogawards.org

Klinger became the first-ever certified dual-purpose running guide dog in the USA. After Richard Hunter, USMC Blinded Veteran, had recovered from his injuries, his family became hyper-vigilant of distracted drivers, knowing that Richard was still running solo with his limited vision.

Klinger not only offered Richard a new sense of freedom and his family peace of mind, Klinger’s success paved the way for other guide dog teams to follow in his paw-steps.
