Honoring Officers Who Have Given Their Lives in the Line of Duty in 2016

The public and the Media are invited to join local and California Law Enforcement Officials in commemorating the officers who have given their lives in the line of duty in 2016.  The week of May 14-20, 2017, has been designated “National Police Week”, a time to honor officers who have fallen in the line-of-duty and in recognition of the sacrifice of those loved and left behind

On Thursday, May 4th at noon (12:00 p.m.), the 15th Annual Remembrance Ceremony will take place at the Sacramento Police & Sheriff’s Memorial, 500 Arden Way, Sacramento.  All of the fallen officers from the past 167 years of Sacramento’s Law Enforcement History will be recognized.

On Sunday, May 7th, the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation will be holding a Candlelight Vigil beginning at the California Peace Officers Memorial Monument, 10th Street and Capitol Mall, at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.).

On Monday, May 8th, the California Peace Officers Memorial dedication ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the California Peace Officers Memorial Monument, 10th Street and Capitol Mall.
