Helping Out the Houston Family

A fire that broke out in Yuba County near Wheatland Tuesday afternoon is now nearing containment. Only one home was destroyed along with over 900 acres of dry land. Cal Fire says high winds were a major factor for the flames spreading as fast as they did. Evacuation orders were lifted by Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, Cal Fire says containment was over 50% with over 900 acres burned. Crews are still on the scene to continue working towards full containment.

The one home that was destroyed in this Intanko Fire was the home Jennifer Houston and her family of five. She and her husband Sam are professional labrador retriever dog breeders and operated their business from the home and property that was destroyed. Friends and neighbors have created a Go Fund Me page to help the family with the recovery efforts. Luckily, the family says they were able to see the flames fast enough to get out safely, but they were unable to save their home.
