Sacramento SPCA Pet Of The Week: Roxy

Roxy is a 10-year-old Pomeranian mix who weighs about 16lbs (but would benefit from getting down to a healthier weight through a restricted diet and regular, light exercise). Roxy can be a little standoffish at first with new people, but once she gets to know you she shows her sweet, loving, and easy-going personality. Roxy spent some time in a foster home and her foster mom says "She's not much of a lap dog but wants to be close to her human at all times and will lay at your feet. Walks and car rides are her favorite. Roxy loves exploring in the backyard, lick mats, soft treats (she only has 13 teeth in the back), blankets (and burrowing), ear scratches and belly rubs!" Roxy walks very nicely on leash and is happy to nap when left home alone for a couple hours during the day. She would like to be in a home with adults only.

Once in their new home, the Sacramento SPCA will continue to provide medical support for Pawspice adoptions for their diagnosed condition. Roxy has been diagnosed with Heart Disease and Collapsing Trachea. Through the Pawspice Program Roxy will be provided with refills for her medication (which she takes orally twice a day) and regular exams. While Roxy's condition causes her to have an ongoing cough, she is well maintained and comfortable on her medication.
