Sacramento SPCA Pet Of The Week: Ava

Ava is a 1.5 year old and 40 pound Husky who is looking for her forever home. She is the cutest, sweetest gal you will ever meet! She would be a great adventure buddy and would love to go on hikes, trips to the park, and other exciting trips. She has done well with other dogs that match her energy and play style and would likely do well with slow introductions to resident household dogs.

Ava has two special traits that adopters should consider before applying to meet her. The first is that she has bilateral ectopic ureters. This means that she cannot hold her bladder and will leak urine. We have scheduled a surgery to correct this at the end of September, but we would love for her to recuperate from the surgery in her forever home. This surgery is not 100% guaranteed to work so there is a chance she will leak urine her entire life. The second trait is that she does not like to be left alone. She will do best with someone who is home more often than not and can change around their schedule to help ease her into being left alone if needed.

Ava has lived with other dogs and older kids in the past!
