Sacramento SPCA Pet Of The Week: Forrest

Meet Forrest! This senior Miniature Poodle mix is about 13-years-old and weighs just over 20lbs. Forrest came to the Sacramento SPCA in need of some serious medical care! In addition to blood work and a dental (aka the "Senior Special"), Forrest also needed to have both of his eyes surgically removed. He had a chronic eye condition which had gone a long time untreated, causing blindness and discomfort. Forrest has spent the last two months in a foster home, but he is now ready for a home to call his own!

Name: Forrest

Animal ID: 14769986

Breed: Miniature Poodle mix

Age: 13 years

Gender: Neutered Male

Adoption Fee: $110

Forrest's foster mom says: "Forrest is a wonderful, sweet, gentle boy." He enjoys lounging on the couch next to his person, watching TV. Because he can't see, it may take Forrest a little more time to acclimate to his new home. He would do best in a calm home environment with someone patient to allow him time to learn the lay of the land. Forrest's new family will need to ensure unsafe obstacles such as stairs, pools, ponds, etc. are safely gated off to prevent any accidents.

Forrest has lived with other dogs in his foster home and does well with them! He'd do well with other dogs who are calm, respectful. High energy dogs would likely be too much for him! Forrest does not have a history of living with cats, but may do well with your cat with a slow introduction. Due to his age and health condition, Forrest would do best in a home without young children.
