As if E. Coli wasn't bad enough, now a rattlesnake has been spotted slithering across the American River.
A kayaker captured the video seen below on Sunday.
While enjoying an afternoon on the river, Jonathan Carabba noticed the rather large rattlesnake near Howe and Watt Avenues.
After its dip, the snake made its way to shore - popping out of the water near some fisherman that Carabba had forewarned.
As shocking as the visual may seem, it's not uncommon for snakes to swim.
It's important for river-goers to be aware of their surroundings in order to stay safe.
Spotted a rattlesnake crossing the American River today btwn Howe & Watt! Been paddling this stretch for years & have seen a ton of wildlife, but never this 😱🐍Even had to warn a few guys fishing on the shore before the snake landed only a few feet away from them! #nopenopenope pic.twitter.com/y9IlvcjkwO— Jonathan Carabba (@yurfriendjono) July 9, 2018
