A large rock on the northbound side of Interstate 5 caused multiple crashes and major traffic in Downtown Sacramento Wednesday morning.
Apparently a section of the road crumbled and a large piece may have broken off - forming a huge pot hole that caused a number of vehicles to get flat tires.
The incident began around 5:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.
The reason the roadway broke is still unknown.
A traffic break was in place for awhile, but was lifted later in the morning - easing up congestion by around 7:15 a.m.
