1.4 Million Ram Trucks Recalled For Tailgate Lock Issue

More than 1.4 million Ram pickup trucks in the U.S. and Canada are being recalled.

Fiat Chrysler say that Ram models 1500, 2500 and 3500 made between 2015 and 2017 have a tailgate malfunction that's letting power locks open while the vehicle is in motion.

When tailgates open unexpectedly on the road, unsecured cargo can fall onto roadways and cause a crash.

The company says no incidents have been reported so far, but it has received over 5,800 warranty claims and complaints regarding the issue.

The recall will likely start in mid-September.

Dealers will fix the tailgate lock free of charge.
