Man Suspected Of Starting Fire In Target

Atwater police are on the hunt for a man who started a fire at an area Target on Tuesday night.

Police and Cal Fire crews responded to the Target on the 1000 block of Commerce Avenue a little after 9 p.m. after the smoke-filled store was evacuated.

The fire was extinguished relatively quickly and no one was hurt, according to police.

Investigators found their suspect by looking at surveillance camera footage.

The man seen below was identified as the suspect.

He was pushing a shopping cart through the store and ducked out of view in the toilet paper isle.

When he shows up again, the cart is no where in sight and the man leaves the store.

The fire started shortly after.

He was next seen walking into a nearby Walmart.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Atwater Police.

Atwater is located just north of Merced.
