Woman Steals Stockton Ambulance, Leads Police On Chase

A woman was arrested Monday after stealing an ambulance and and leading police on a 10-mile chase.

The incident began when St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton reported a stolen ambulance just after 6 p.m.

Police quickly located the vehicle near Bianchi Road and Townehome Drive and attempted to pull it over without success. 

Natasha Scott, the woman driving the ambulance, preceded to lead officers on a 10-mile chase at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

Police broke off the chase due to safety reasons when it reached the freeway and contacted the California Highway Patrol to continue the pursuit.

The CHP eventually put down spike strips and flattened the vehicle's front tires on the southbound side of Interstate 5 near Highway 12.

Scott, 34, was taken into custody and charged with evading police, having a stolen vehicle and other traffic-related offenses.

Investigators have not said how she stole the ambulance.
