A woman died Tuesday morning while walking on the freeway, says the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at roughly 3:30 a.m. on Highway 99 by 47th Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
The unidentified woman walked onto the freeway and was struck by two cars.
CHP isn't sure why the woman walked out into traffic at this time.
The three left lanes on the southbound side of the freeway were shut down for a few hours for investigation and cleanup.
Both drivers stopped and cooperated with officers.
