Potholes On I-5 Shut Down Lane, Increase Traffic

The number 4 northbound lane of Interstate 5 near Richards Boulevard remains closed after potholes caused major problems for drivers Thursday morning.

Caltrans sent out a tweet a little before 7 a.m. saying the lane would be closed for emergency pothole repairs.

At least 21 vehicles were damaged before the closure happened. Many of them suffered flat tires and had to be towed due to miscellaneous issues.

People reportedly contacted the California Highway Patrol on Wednesday warning them about the stretch of freeway.

The lane is expected to stay closed over night for repairs, so expect traffic to be a little worse than usual.
