SMF Temporarily Losing 1,500 Parking Spots

Approximately 1,500 economy parking spaces at the Sacramento International Airport will be temporarily closed for construction.

A press release from the airport said that the spots they will be working on are currently unpaved and can become muddy and flooded when it rains. Their plan is to pave the area to better serve future travelers.

Construction is expected to last roughly three months, ending around mid-December.

Parking in the economy lot costs $10 a day. Once available economy spots are filled, drivers can park in the daily lot which costs a maximum of $12 or the garage which costs a maximum of $18. If those reach capacity, a pre-pay overflow lot will open.

Shuttle services are available from all lots every 15 to 20 minutes.

With the holiday travel rush just around the corner, SMF is reminding customers to arrive at least two hours prior to their departure time.
