A young woman is accused of intentionally causing a wreck in Citrus Heights that left one man dead.

Police say 19-year-old Christina Diaz was traveling westbound on Greenback Lane in a 2004 Toyota Camry around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night when she purposely hit a Dodge van that was also heading west.

After the impact, she lost control of the car and ended up in oncoming traffic where she collided with a Mercedes.

Diaz immediately left the crash site on foot, but was caught by police shortly after the incident.

The unidentified man driving the Mercedes sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The people in the van had minor injuries.

The teenager was allegedly driving under the influence of marijuana.

Police are still investigating and have not said why they think Diaz intentionally hit the van.

Diaz was booked into Sacramento County Jail.
