A Cordova High School student was arrested Monday for having a gun in his backpack.
The Sacramento Sheriff's Office says another student told school officials that a sophomore was carrying the gun around in his bag. After an investigation by the school, the informant's story was confirmed and the weapon was seized.
Police don't suspect that the student was planning on hurting anyone and think he was trying to sell the firearm. The sheriff's office is still investigating.
They are not releasing the student's name as he's a minor.
Having a gun on a school campus is a felony offense.
