El Dorado County Student Death Under Investigation

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of 13-year-old student who attended Guiding Hands School in El Dorado Hills.

According to school officials, November 28 of this year the student became violent and needed to be restrained.  He was reportedly six-feet tall, weighed 280 pounds, and suffered from severe autism.  Sheriff's deputies were called to the school, and when they arrived they were told student had become unresponsive while being restrained.  A teacher performed CPR until medical help arrived, the student was transported to Mercy Folsom in critical condition.  He was later moved to U-C Davis, where he died two days later.

Investigators have interviewed the staff members involved, and they said a full investigation is nearly complete.  At this time, there appears to be no evidence of any criminal act or intent.
