As of right now, there are more than 5,000 uncashed checks still on the Sacramento County books, and those checks amount just over $2.2 million. Some of that money could be yours.
Spokeswoman Brenda Bongiorno says if a Sacramento County issued check goes six months without being cashed by the rightful payee, then that information is put into a PDF document which you will find on the Unclaimed County Warrants webpage. You may also do a search for outstanding checks to you from Sacramento County at the Auditor-Controller's website.
If you find your name or business on the County's listing, all you need to do is click to the Unclaimed County Warrants webpage to get a list of the documents and information needed by the County to validate your claim.
