Wildfires Have PG&E Planning Changes To Power Lines

PG&E is planning to make multiple changes because of changes to the environment and increasing threat of wildfires.  The utility announced yesterday it will insulate power lines, increase inspections of its equipment and build new weather stations in areas at high risk of wildfires.

PG&E crews work to restore power after wildfire.

PG&E recently inspected 350 miles of transmission lines and plans to inspect a total of five-thousand-500 miles.  In addition, the company plans to install 600 new cameras and one-thousand-300 new weather stations in an effort to quickly detect dangerous weather conditions.
