Sac City Unified Projected To Run Out Of Money By 2019

The Sacramento City Unified School District is projected to run out of operational funds as soon as November of 2019.  School district officials said Wednesday, that unless some action is taken the district wouldn't be able to pay employees, make payments to vendors and fulfill other financial obligations.

Meanwhile, the district is cutting costs by doing things that don't need the approval of unions, including spending less on administrators.  The district is hoping to save as much as 16-million dollars a year by using a different health care plan, but that needs approval from all five employee unions.
