A Yemeni mother arrived in California for a brief visit with her dying son after first being denied the opportunity. Shaima Swileh had been prevented from coming to California by the Trump administration's travel ban. Swileh's son is at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, but the child is not expected to live.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations sued the Trump administration to get a travel ban waiver for Swileh. The waiver was granted on Tuesday, allowing her to travel to the U.S. to reunite with her husband and young son, both of whom are U.S. citizens and Stockton residents.
