Yemeni Mother Allowed Visit With Dying Son In CA

A Yemeni mother arrived in California for a brief visit with her dying son after first being denied the opportunity.  Shaima Swileh had been prevented from coming to California by the Trump administration's travel ban.  Swileh's son is at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, but the child is not expected to live.

The ban  to see her two-year-old son, who suffers from a genetic brain disorder.  S  She was able to see her son for a short period of time yesterday after getting a waiver by the State Department.  The Council on American-Islamic Relations sued the Trump administration to get a travel ban waiver for Swileh. The waiver was granted on Tuesday, allowing her to travel to the U.S. to reunite with her husband and young son, both of whom are U.S. citizens and Stockton residents.
