The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday reported that man identified as the suspect in Tuesday's deadly shooting in South Sacramento, 20-year-old Damion Horton of Sacramento, turned himself in to authorities. He is believed to be responsible for killing 19-year-old Dajha Richards.
The shooting took place on the morning of January 8th in the 7800 block of Orchard Woods Circle in south Sacramento, according to investigators. Horton is believed to have eluded a search by S.W.A.T. team and sheriff's K-9 units which lasted several hours after the victim was found. Residents were warned to remain inside their homes while deputies scoured the neighborhood yard by yard.
Richards' family members reportedly had a vigil planned for Wednesday night.
